Certificate or Diploma – Which Qualification Do I Need?

We offer two ITEC Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology pathways, and both are recognised qualifications. The right option for you may depend on what you want to study next, or what your future training provider asks for.

Option 1: ITEC Level 3 Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology

This pathway is ideal for learners who need a recognised Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology qualification as a foundation for further study in areas such as beauty therapy, massage, complementary therapies, sport, fitness, or wellbeing.

Assessment is completed online, from the comfort of your own home. During the exam, you’ll be observed remotely by an invigilator, usually through Zoom, to make sure the assessment is completed correctly.

Once you’ve successfully completed the course and assessment, you’ll receive your ITEC qualification certificate.

Option 2: ITEC Level 3 Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology for Complementary Therapies

This pathway includes anatomy, physiology and pathology, making it especially useful for learners who are planning to continue into complementary therapy training.

This qualification is often studied as part of a wider massage or therapy course, but it can also be taken as a standalone qualification. It may be the preferred option for learners moving into areas such as massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, or other complementary therapies.

Assessment is also completed online from home, with remote observation during the exam.

Which option should I choose?

Both qualifications are ITEC Level 3 Anatomy and Physiology qualifications, but different training providers may ask for a specific pathway.

If you’re taking this course because you want to progress onto another qualification, we recommend checking with your future course provider before booking. They’ll be able to confirm whether they need you to complete the Diploma pathway or the Certificate in Anatomy, Physiology and Pathology pathway.

If your future provider doesn’t have a preference, you can choose the pathway that feels most suitable for your own learning and future plans.
