Studying independently doesn’t mean simply sitting down with a textbook and trying to memorise hundreds of anatomical terms.
The human body becomes much easier to understand when you break your learning down into individual systems and gradually start seeing how those systems work together.
Your course provides structured learning materials to guide you through the subjects you need to understand. We also offer additional learning resources, including an Anatomy and Physiology audiobook and question banks, which can be particularly useful for revision and checking your knowledge.
There are also several things you can do to make independent study easier.
Try creating your own notes rather than simply reading information repeatedly. Use diagrams to identify structures, create flashcards for terminology and use memory techniques or mnemonics where they help.
Most importantly, test yourself regularly. It’s very easy to read something and think you understand it. Trying to explain it without looking at your notes is often a much better test.
And remember, studying independently doesn’t mean you’re completely on your own. If you’re struggling with something, ask for support.
