The Federation of Holistic Therapists, commonly known as the FHT, is a professional association representing therapists working across complementary healthcare, holistic therapy, beauty and related areas.
For somebody beginning or developing a career as a therapist, joining an appropriate professional association can provide a number of benefits, including access to professional information, support and insurance options.
The FHT also operates a register that has been accredited under the Professional Standards Authority’s Accredited Registers programme.
It’s important, however, to understand the distinction between a professional association, an awarding organisation and a regulator. They perform different roles within the industry.
If you’re planning to work professionally after completing your training, you should always investigate the membership and insurance requirements relevant to the therapies you intend to practise rather than assuming that one qualification or membership automatically covers everything.
